Inside Technical Sales/Application Specialist

We are seeking an Inside Technical Sales/Application Specialist with senior level, technical application skills set to act as the primary technical sales contact for Regional Sales Managers, Distributors, Customers and other internal departments at SVF.

Description:

Reporting directly to the Sales & Marketing Manager, this position works under minimal supervision as the primary technical sales contact for Regional Sales Managers, Distributors, Customers and other internal departments at SVF. As such, this position utilizes senior level technical/organizational skills to support sales relationships for all accounts within his/her designated region. This position will draw from his/her years of experience in the process industry, utilizing technical knowledge, excellent written and verbal communication ability and problem solving skills to satisfy customer inquiries and request for simple to complex solutions for RFQ's, bids, orders and projects of all sizes. Punctuality and consistent attendance is required.

Examples of Essential Functions:
Through utilization of technical knowledge and excellent verbal and written communication problem solving and negotiation skills, develops positive, consultative relationships with RSM's, Distributors, Customers and Internal Staff.

Experience/Training/Education:
Required:
4 year degree or 8 or more years of progressively responsible experience involving technical sales or application engineering in a manufacturing environment. Process experience is required. Experience working with ball valves is required. General engineering or technical training is preferred. Must have excellent verbal, written and computer skills. Intermediate level proficiency in the Microsoft Office programs is required. Experience and proficiency using and maximizing CRM is required. Experience working with Macola and Synergy are a plus. AUTOCAD and SOLIDWORKS experience is a plus. Microsoft Project experience is preferred. Some outside sales experience is a plus. Bilingual ability is a plus.

Knowledge Of:
Ability to utilize product knowledge and past experience to make independent decisions. Experience in working in manufacturing environments of all sizes a plus. Experience as a member of a problem solving, project oriented meetings is required, as a leader is preferable.

Skills:
Operate a computer terminal and related software programs; operate a calculator, type minimum of 35 wpm and standard office equipment; strong organizational and phone skills. Must have strong math skills to ensure accurate pricing, discounts, etc. Ability to read general Engineering drawings. Must have a mechanical aptitude. Highly developed interpersonal skills required.

Exercise tact and diplomacy in resolving customer relations inquiries and problems; research pricing, shipping and discounting terms and conditions by product line and account; exercise initiative in independently researching and resolving inquiries and problems; prepare clear and concise business correspondence; organize, assign and coordinate work to meet scheduled deadlines; make mathematical computations quickly and accurately; understand and follow written and verbal instructions; communicate and work cooperatively with co-workers, departmental representatives, sales representative, management, customers and vendors.

Special Requirements:
Experience to read specs, analyze and respond to large, technical RFQ and bid packages is required. Must be self directing with the ability to prioritize and multi-task. Must be a team player, able to work independently as well as part of a team.
